FED:Victorian Labor enjoys poll lift

SYDNEY, Aug 27 AAP - The Victorian Labor government has risen in popularity, despite
federal Labor's troubled election campaign, the latest Newspoll has found.

On a two-party preferred basis, support for Victorian Labor has risen from 51 per cent
in June to 55 per cent in August, the poll shows.

Support for the Victorian coalition has dropped from 49 per cent to 46 per cent over
the same period.

Premier John Brumby's personal satisfaction rating has also risen from 45 to 48 per cent.

The polling comes despite federal Labor's troubled election campaign.

The Newspoll was published in The Australian newspaper on Friday, which said Victoria
had cemented itself as the nation's favourite Labor state.
